Jay and Katie Wedding in Ames | Iowa Wedding Photographer
My good friend and colleague Carisa, owner of Carisa Keeling Photography, recently invited me to be a second photographer at Jay and Katie’s wedding. Jay and Katie were married at St. Thomas Aquinas church and their reception was at Hickory’s Hilltop Center in Ames, IA.
Back in December, I wrote a blog entry about why you might want to have a second photographer at your wedding.

As a beach photographer I find church weddings very interesting and enjoyable. Your use of off camera lighting and composition combined nicely to photograph their perfect day.
Those dancing pictures are great….solid OCF or video light or whatever you used!
Katie is a beautiful bride. Great photographs of her and the groom.
Wow, the reception shot of the speech written on the toilet paper roll is just too funny!
I’m really feeling the PJ approach here Mitch.
Fifth from the bottom is killer…did you set up the back lighting or was that from the video light…very nice!
That would be so much fun to be a second photographer at a wedding you did a great job love the photos.
Looks like some good off camera lighting what was used off camera for the dancing shots?
Once again a very strong collection of wedding photographs. The bride looks really happy and you’ve really captured her well.

I’ve shot in this church before! You did a really great job and they look like such a fun couple! Love the toilet paper roll speech!
The speech with the TP had me laughing uncontrollably, great moment!
Really like the backlit dancing images. Great job.
I love, love, love the dancing shots and the toilet paper roll speech is classic!!! Very nicely done!
Love the speech photo! That is so funny!
Amazing work as always Mitch!
Mitch, I really enjoyed the lighting on the reception dance shots. Great use of off camera flash, great wedding coverage!
This series of photos captures the moment of the wedding…The close up of toilet tissue is great shot.
Beautiful images one and all. The first image in the serious is just lovely. A true photojournalist!
